Human Resources management (HRM) is the management of people in organizations.HR is a broad field of work made up of many technical areas:

 
 
  • Human Resources Planning: the determination and action plans to meet  future human resources needs in an organization  
  • Employee Selection (Staffing): promoting of employees in an organization  
  • Recruitment: finding new employee sources for the organization  
  • Employee Labour relations (employee relations, industrial relations): the determination and resolution of employee/employer relationships through contract negotiations (collective bargaining) and dispute resolution.  
  • Classification (job evaluation): the determination of relative worth of jobs  
  • Compensation: the determination and administration of pay plans including salaries, wages and performance pay packages  
  • The Employee Benefits/Risk Management: the determination and delivery of benefit services to employees (
  • Organization and Employee Development: the determination and implementation of  activities to improve the effectiveness of the organization   
  • HR Diversity / Employment Equity: the review of employment systems for the reduction of bias, the maintenance of statistics on target groups and the promotion of equity in the work place.
  • HR management  systems (HRIS): the use of technology systems to support and facilitate the administration of effective human resource management
  • HR research: applying the principles of research design, data analysis, and/or workforce planning in supporting the organization’s ability to achieve current and future human resources goals
