Recertification
is an integral component of IPMA-Canada's new International
Certification Program. Certified members must demonstrate their
commitment to and involvement in their ongoing professional
development in order to retain their professional designation.
IPMA-Canada
has identified several areas of continuing education and leadership
activity through which certification may be maintained. Given the
rapidly changing environment of human resource management, continual
professional development activities are essential. To retain
the International Personnel Management Association Certified
Professional (IPMA-CP) and/or the Certified Specialist (IPMA-CS)
designation, an individual must accumulate 50 points every three
years and submit a completed Application for Recertification Form to
the National Office of IPMA-Canada.
At least 30 of the points must be accumulated in total from any of the following areas:
- Professional Development Programs,
- Service in a Leadership Capacity,
- Presentation and Professional Development Delivery,
- Publications, and
- Human Resource Innovations.
At least 20 points must be achieved in the work experience area to satisfy the recertification requirements.
You may begin earning points toward
recertification immediately upon receiving your initial IPMA-CP/IPMA-CS
designation. Points cannot be carried over for a future
recertification.
