IPMA is an international human resources association with locations in 27 countries worldwide. IPMA-Canada has been in existence, under various names, since 1906 and has members in every province.

IPMA-Canada has a strong history of providing support to Canadian Human Resource Professionals. Formed in 1906, it is the oldest human resource organization in Canada. Indeed the next oldest – the Toronto Personnel Association – did not come into existence until thirty years later. Although over 100 years old, IPMA-Canada’s mission remains as vital and clear today as it was when the Civil Service Commissioners created the association – to promote excellence in the practice of human resources management.

IPMA-Canada has eight chapters with members in all provinces and territories in the country. We are linked with IPMA-HR in the United States and 27 other countries around the world. We are a non-profit organization, run by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Any HR professional having worked in the field recognizes the ever evolving role of Human Resource Management. HR is critical to the success of any company or government entity. As HR professionals we have become strategic partners to and members of the organizations’ leadership team. To be successful, today’s HR practitioner must not only have a complex set of skills but must ensure their knowledge and abilities are maintained through on-going training and networking.
